Dyson Sphere Program · Miniature Nuclear Power Plant
A miniature nuclear power plant from Dyson Sphere Program, mimicking the in-game animations with movable structures on the model, rotating parts, and a sound unit.

Dyson Sphere Program · Miniature Nuclear Power Plant
A scaled-down model of the nuclear power plant in Dyson Sphere Program, using a stepper motor and many RGB LEDs to recreate the dynamic effects from the game. The whole model is made with 3D printing and spray painting, with an overall length of 10cm, and a sound unit at the bottom to simulate the in-game sound effects.
Dyson Sphere Program is just so much fun! If I had to say what left the deepest impression on me, it would be the nuclear power plant—countless times it saved me from power shortage crises~ (Thank you, nuclear power plant)~. Along with it, I also made deuterium nuclear fuel rods (the infinite loop fractionator is just too efficient).
A mini mainboard was designed for the project, with Espressif’s ESP32S3 as the main controller, TMC2208-LA for stepper motor driving, and an integrated NS4168 for audio decoding + PA.

Fitting a stepper motor, speaker, slip ring, and mainboard into a tiny space.

Finally, covering it with a decorative PCB.

A small plug designed to look like a sorter, with a USB-C connector on the other end, connected via a BTB connector, and the joint is secured with magnets.

Of course, the fuel rods couldn’t be left out. A hollow cavity was printed, a fluorescent layer was made using sodium fluorescein mixed with epoxy resin, then the remaining part was filled with transparent epoxy resin, and finally polished.

Finally, some beauty shots of the work
